Obituary for Lee Ray Coleman

Graveside services for Mr. Lee Ray Coleman, with Military honors, will be on Tuesday, August 18, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at Liberty Chapel Cemetery in Williana under the direction of Gallagher Funeral Home and Crematory.
Lee Ray Coleman passed away of cancer at his residence in Pineville, on August 14, 2020 at the age of 83.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lee E. and Bessie Ellen Futrell Coleman and his sister Dorothy Mae Ahrens.
Those left to cherish his memory include one son, Stephen Ray Coleman of Alpine, Texas and two daughters, Lisa Ellen Coleman of Pineville and Leanne Coleman of Deville. Two sisters, Melba Mills of Baton Rouge and Faye Hines (Jimmie) of Pineville. Four grandsons, Matthew Raines (Rachael) of Pineville, Kevin Raines (Lyndsay) of Travis Air Force Base, California and Nathaniel Raines and Daniel Raines of Deville. Lee had three great-grandchildren, Caitlyn Raines of Fort Campbell, Kentucky and Brendan and Kinzey Raines of Travis Air Force Base, California and a special friend Brenda Rodriquez of Pineville.
Mr. Coleman was a graduate of Georgetown High School and a 1962 graduate of the University of Southwestern Louisiana (Now ULL). He completed graduate course work at Louisiana Tech, LSU, Tulane University, USL, the University of Houston and the University of Texas, Austin.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, having served in the Korean Theatre. He retired as Area Manager of the Alexandria area office of the Louisiana Office of Employment Security, Louisiana Department of Labor, with an administration area that covered Rapides, Grant, and Avoyelles Parishes. He subsequently retired as Operations Director of Job Training Programs for the Rapides Parish Police Jury.
Mr. Coleman was a passionate deer hunter and wild turkey hunter and enjoyed many hunts with his family over the years.
Pallbearers honored to serve include his grandsons, Matthew Raines, Kevin Raines, Nathaniel Raines, Daniel Raines, nephew Michael Dale Roberts and his "adopted grandson", Buck Holt.
The family would like to thank Saint Joseph Hospice and his caregivers, Betsy, Sarah, Glenda and Samantha.
