Obituary for Jeanne Mae Griffin Basco

Jeanne Griffin, was born in Beaumont, Texas. She grew up in Grant Parish and resided in Natchitoches Parish for many years. Jeanne’s years in Natchitoches were known as some of the best days of her life. This is where she met and married her first husband, Daniel Chicola and conceived her beautiful baby girl, Danielle. Daniel described Jeanne as beautiful, vibrant, and charismatic. “She really knew how to have fun, she always lit up a room, and she could ski all the way to one end of Cane River and all the way back!”

After Jeanne’s years in Natchitoches she moved, remarried, and conceived her son Warren Basco Jr. Before passing, Jeanne was anticipating and excited about the birth of Warren Jr.’s first child, Saylor Grace.

Jeanne was known by those closest to her as “Jeanne Mae”. Jeanne loved to have a good time. She was always on the go. Her hobbies included fishing, skiing, and most of all TALKING. Her proudest accomplishment was her children and grandchildren. She spent this past summer living next door to her daughter, Danielle, her son-in-law Brock, and her grandchildren Brayden, Lexi, and Layla. Many memories were made.
Jeanne lost her mother this year and recently moved back to Grant Parish, back to her roots. She was excited to live close to her brothers, sister, nieces and nephews. They were all able to fish together, attend church together, and spend quality time together.

Jeanne’s family finds comfort in knowing that Jeanne knew and loved the Lord. She is now in perfect peace. A memorial service for Jeanne will be held for her at her favorite place of worship, at a later date.

Ms. Jeanne Mae Griffin Basco, age 57, entered eternal rest on Sunday, September 20, 2020 at her residence in Pollock. She was preceded in death by her parents, James Griffin and Julia Dunlap Griffin; and brother, Jimmie Griffin.
