Obituary for Bettie Joe Mallard (McGuire)
Funeral services for Mrs. Bettie McGuire Mallard will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, August 17, 2020 in the Chapel of Gallagher Funeral Home, Ball, Louisiana, with Reverend Jeff White officiating. Interment will be held at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens, Ball, Louisiana, under the direction of Gallagher Funeral Home and Crematory, Ball, Louisiana.
Mrs. Mallard, age 83, of Alexandria, Louisiana, entered eternal rest on Monday, August 10, 2020 at her residence, surrounded by her loving family.
Mrs. Mallard worked for the USDA, Forestry Service and retired after 30 years of service. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, and taking pictures .Mrs. Mallard was an avid reader and was the self-appointed "First Caregiver" for each of her grandchildren when they were born. She was proudly named "Granny Day Care."
Mrs. Mallard was preceded in death by her parents, Curtis and Lonamae McGuire, a sister, JoAnn Turner and a brother, Curtis McGuire.
Mrs. Mallard is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, James Mallard; one son, David Mallard (Sheila); two daughters, Donna Tate and Terri Spinosa (Lucas); one sister, Sue Thornton (Ralph); three grandchildren, Gracie Tate, Lucia Spinosa and, Ally Spinosa; three step-grandchildren, Misty Kneeland (Chad), Dustin Britt and Abby Richmond (Justin) and four step great- grandchildren
